Sorbitol

Sorbitol is a white crystalline powder, odorless and highly soluble in water, obtained by hydrogenation of dextrose followed by crystallization.

It can be used as a bulk sweetener or as a compression agent in sugar-free confectionery, as well as a humectant and stabilizer in biscuit and pastry applications: E420 (ii).
